The coin is dedicated to the world-famous painting “Sunflowers” created by Vincent van Gogh.
Van Gogh created two series of still life paintings: one – with sunflowers lying on the ground and the other that represents a sunflower bouquet in a vase. The coin depicts “Sunflowers” from the second series, fourth edition. It has a yellow background and is oil on canvas measuring 92.1 x 73 cm. The artist used vibrant colours, which usually express the emotions associated with sunflowers. Now, this painting is stored in the National Gallery, London.
